Featured Etsy Items - 8/30/09

I was having problems this morning choosing just one featured store of the week, so I thought I would mix it up a little and do a post of some of my favorite items from my followers (and some that don't follow) in a category...purses and handbags.
I'm not typically a "red" person, but there is something about this bag from LilyoftheVall77 that I just love. The little pom-poms of "yo-yos" on it are just adorable.

Red satin yo-yo purse - $15.00

Carrying on with the red theme I found this really cute felt bag that features a simple red heart with a handle. It would make a great bag to put some chocolates in as a Valentine's Day gift or just because you want to do something nice for someone you "heart". You can find it at BejeweledArts

DELICATE RED HEART BAG - $5.00

One of my other favorites is, unfortunately, a little out of my price-range, but still beautiful. It is a jacquard clutch purse from BagatellesAndCo. I love the flowers that have an embroidered look and the chain they use as a strap. I could see carrying this with a beautiful summer dress going to tea in the English countryside.

Summer flowers---luxury jacquard medium clutch bag - $103.00

Lastly we come to one that I am just wild about the color...green, my favorite! The fabrics that SimpleStitches101 used are just so vibrant you can't help but smile when you see this. This would make an awesome bag to carry all your goodies in...and even comes with extra accessories!

Green Quilted Handbag and Accessories - $49.99

I hope you have enjoyed a peak into some of my favorites this week. Be sure to check out their shops as they all have many more beautiful items than the ones I've featured today.

Etsy Store of the Week - 8/23/09

My selection this week comes from one of my blog followers and a member of a BNR thread I'm in...Sheabalina. She is a college student that makes hand stamped notecards and greeting cards and today is actually the 3-month anniversary of her Etsy store. Happy Anniversary!

Her cards are very affordable and she has a nice selection. Currently she has a theme of Twilight inspired cards and Fleur de lis cards. However, with green being my favorite color, I would have to vote for the beautiful damask print cards.

Hand Stamped Damask Print Light Green Notecards - Set of 3 $5.00

If you have that special person you like to send hand-written notes to vs. email, be sure to check out Sheabalina.

Work in Progress Wednesday - 8/19/09

One of the reasons why I started this blog was to give my customers a sneak-peek of the new projects I'm working on. So far I haven't done a very good job of doing that. I will now be starting WIP Wednesday, which will be posted at least 2x/month.

Today I will be featuring 3 projects I'm currently working on:

The first is "My Christmas Wish to You" pattern. It is the only one of my patterns I haven't fully stitched. My friend Bev and I have been having a disagreement on whether I'm giving it to her when I'm done (my vote) or if she is paying me for it (her vote).
The second is the winner of the "Pick my Next Pattern" blog...the white tulips. Unfortunately I haven't gotten very far on this one. I had put it aside to do some smaller finished items that are currently listed in my shop to help alleviate the comments of "more selection, more selection".

Lastly is an alternative cross stitch I'm working on. Not something I normally do, but the idea came to me. I did a little research and found there should be a market it for it, so I figured I would just go with it. With any luck, this one should be done and posted before I go to bed this Sunday night, so I won't say much more about it, you'll just have to check out my shop next week to see the finished piece.

Hope this has given you all an idea of what I'm doing when I'm typing in the forums "I'm off to do more stitching".
Have a Happy Hump Day!! :)

Etsy Store of the Week - 8/16/09

I'm back with my Store of the Week feature. I took a break last Sunday for a girl's road trip.

This week I have selected a fabulous artist, Kristend12 . Kristen teaches art in Elementary and Middle School and I'm constantly blown away by the paintings she posts in her store and on her blog! I guess coming from a needlework background where everything is so time-intensive I'm amazed at how quickly she can produce such beautiful works.

I'm sure when you're reading this and seeing "paintings" you're thinking expensive, but they're not. She is very creative with her painted pendants that are affordable for anyone.

Purple Flower Painting Pendant - just $10.00

She also offers mini-paintings, mid-sized paintings and Triptych's like this beautiful sunflower painting. My blog followers know I love sunflowers!!

Sunflower Triptych - $200.00

It's a beautiful Sunday so take a moment for a lazy stroll through Kristen's shop and look at all wonderful pieces she has to offer!

As always, thanks for supporting our fellow Etsians and stay tuned for next week's featured store.

I've been terminated by Google AdSense

I noticed yesterday that I didn't have any ads on my blog, but was only online for a moment. So when I checked my email this morning I had a notification from Google that my account has been "terminated to due suspicious activity that could be financially dangerous to their advertisers". I followed the link that was supposed to give me more information but basically all it said was that they can't give me any information and if I want my account back I need to file an appeal. I personally think it is their way of not paying people. I was getting close to receiving my first payout.

I guess I'd better be careful what I say. Next thing I know the powers-that-be at Google will probably be yanking my blogger account for "suspicious activity". I never knew cross stitch fans/addicts could be quite so dangerous!!!!

I Laughed My Butt Off!!!

I don't know how many of my fellow Etsyians caught these on the front page, but I laughed my butt off! I had to share them with everyone in my office and figured I would share it here for some of my blog followers that aren't on Etsy.

Action vs Reaction

I had to share this post I left on an Etsy forum thread this morning...it pretty much sums up my weekend...

stitchnmomma says:
Good morning Mary & everyone else! You ever heard the saying "that for every action there is a positive and equal reaction"? Well, here's mine (laugh with me as you're reading - that part is important):

This one is in reverse order - ACTION: Saturday night I took an Advil PM so I could actually get more than 4 hours of sleep (I slept 8!! - very positive)...REACTION: Slept through my dog needing out and woke up to a mess in the living room yesterday morning.

Road trip I was supposed to be on yesterday - ACTION: My teenage son (just turned 17 last weekend) that just got his license back from the court on Weds. from a speeding ticket and thinks he is such a great driver hit a curb at 40 mph and blew out the front tire on the car, bent the rim, etc. REACTION: I wasn't able to go on my girls' road trip. I was supposed to drive the 6 hours round trip and the other girl had to take her vehicle into the shop unexpectedly on Saturday also...we postponed for this coming weekend. POSITIVE: I got lots of house cleaning done and started playing around with some color options to stitch a model for one of my patterns.

But the best one is....ACTION: Feeling sorry for myself because I didn't get one stinking thing from my Freebie Friday promotion. REACTION: I came home from my dreaded 2nd job on Saturday night (after the tire blow-out fiasco) and found that I had a sale and then had another one last night before I went to bed.

Can you all see I'm still doing my happy dance???

Hope everyone had a great weekend and is thinking positive thoughts for the week ahead!! :)

Esty Store of the Week - 8/2/09

My store for this week is 2Kutekards. She makes cards for different events, tags, mini notes perfect to send to your customers, and many other items to come. This is one of two shops she has. Her other is 2Kute. 2Kutekards opened only 2 months ago.

She currently has a limited selection in her shop but is adding new ones several times per week. Her prices are unbelievable with nothing currently over $7.00!!

My favorite item from her shop is definitely the sunflower looking mini-notes. These would be great for anyone to use as a thank you note with items you are shipping to your own customers.

Mini-Notes for $5.00

Many wishes to 2KuteKards for a successful second shop on Etsy!!
