I Laughed So Hard I Almost Peed My Pants!!!

OK, I hear my Mom's voice over my shoulder telling me it's not nice to make fun of other people, but sometimes you just can't help but laugh and wonder what they were thinking!!!
The picture below brought to us by the great people at http://peopleofwalmart.com is a great example of one of those times. And even if the picture itself isn't funny, the captions that go with them typically are.
The website has 30 days worth of photos (237 of them!!) and can really make you wonder.
Hope you enjoy and don't think I'm a bad person for needing a good laugh sometimes too!!!
This man is becoming a legend on this site! But when you start to accent the undies with a flannel vest, HOT DAMN!! How could you not be legendary?Pennsylvania

Featured Etsy Items - 9/27/09

This week's feature is dedicated to items from BURNING MOON'S $20 & UNDER BNR. For those of you that aren't familiar with a BNR it means "buy & replace". You buy an item from a shop on the list, take one of their "hearts" and you will then be placed on the list for people to buy from you. It is a great way to get your Etsy shop promoted along with meeting new friends.

If you see an item you like, simply click on that picture and it will take you directly to the shop where it is available for more information or purchase.

Foot Fashion - Part 2

Here is the next segment from the crazy shoes (if you can call them that). Again, the editorial with each photo is what was in the email I received.

Did they borrow this idea from Hannibal Lecter?

Now, I must confess. These might surprise us. They look springy.
You could pogo your way to where you're going.
Learning how to stop might take some experience once you get hopping.

I hope this is a joke. I've never fancied myself looking like one of those half-horse kind of people

If the designer was going for the "big foot" look, they missed.
Looks more like Hobbits' feet. Do they come with flea spray? (And for those of you trying to look closer, yes, that is a Krispy Kreme Donuts logo you see on the shoes!!!)

I hope the lights work on these. You could see where you're walking in the dark. That would be cool.

There is still 12 more pair of "shoes" left to feature...so stay tuned for the next post!! :)

BOGO Gift Guide 9/18-9/20/09

Much to my surprise I was reading through the thread of Burning Moon's BNR group to see a post from one of the other members letting me know I have been featured in the Buy One Get One Free Weekend Deals Gift Guide (it may be on a different page of the guide than where the link takes you...but it is there) for this weekend.

WOW!!!!!

Needless to say, I'm thrilled and having an "OH, CRAP!" moment at the same time. Hopefully I will be extremely busy all weekend making ornaments to fill orders.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that I sell a few of these to go towards my piddly (but growing) Italy fund.

Foot Fashion - Part 1

I got this email yesterday that had some of the strangest types of shoes I have ever seen. Some of them made me laugh and others were just simply "WTF???" As there are many, I'll be sharing them with you over the next few days. The commentary below each pic is not my own, it is what was already on the email. Enjoy!!

I'd like to see her standing up and walking in those.
I know it would be entertaining.

Every Scottish girl needs a pair of these

whatever

Great bridal shoe! Hope the groom is eight foot tall

There aren't enough words for this. Who the hell wants to stand on a nail?

Stay tuned for more foot fashion in the next few days, as this was only the beginning! :)

Work in Progress Wednesday - 9/16/09

I've been rather busy the last 2 weeks working on ornaments to sell in my shop. I had previously posted a photo of 2 stars I'm working on for x-mas. Unfortunately I ran out of thread on those and am waiting for the special order I placed to come in.

However, during that time, I've created several others:
For Halloween I have candy corn ornaments, a glow-in-the-dark ghost ornament and a glow-in-the-dark skull and crossbones ornament.

For Christmas I've finished the first of my metallic stars, this one in silver, but with more colors to come.

Throughout the process of making these I've worked with several new products; perforated paper, glow-in-the-dark floss and metallic threads.

I've found I enjoy working with the perforated paper. You can make so many different things with it and it comes in various colors; silver, gold, white, cream, brown and I think some others.

The glow-in-the-dark floss has been fun! The only downside to it is the floss has a tendency to separate and fray easily. I think the next ornament I make I'll try a little beeswax and see if that helps the fraying.

The metallics are a blast! I had to buy a new needle threader to work with them, but the color selection is endless. Stay tuned for stars in additional colors as well as some other ornaments done with metallic threads only. I don't want to give to much away for fear of the others out there that have no problem with copying someone else's work. If you like the stars and have a specific color you want some made in, please convo me. I'd be more than happy to work with you.

I'll be back with another WIP post in 2 weeks and look forward to having more goodies to showcase that I'm working on.

Featured Etsy Items - 9/13/09

I've been thinking about how I miss coming home from work and having something other than bills in my mailbox. It seems gone are the days that people sent hand-written notes to one another. In the age of technology everything is about instant communication...email, blogs, texting, etc. With that in mind, I thought I would make this weeks feature about NOTE CARDS. Here's a few of my favorites I have found on Etsy.

8 Note Cards - Four Seasons Florals

Morning Tulip Fairys Greeting Card from an Origianl Oil Painting by Dee

Now, if you are so inspired, go send a note to someone you love that you know would really appreciate it. :)

I was featured in a blog!

Deelights, another member of BurningMoon's BNR I'm on, has featured my glow-in-the-dark skull & crossbones Halloween ornament.

Check it out!! http://deelightsblog.blogspot.com/

Featured Etsy Items - 9/6/09

I've decided after last week's post that I will keep my Sunday post with 3-5 featured items vs. just one featured store. I'd like to feature as many other Etsians as possible and as I'm getting more and more followers it would be impossible to feature everyone. I'll be picking my items based upon what I have selected as favorites from my follower's shops and occasionally a few that may not follow but I would just die to be able to buy their items.

I hope you enjoy this week's selection. I have chosen BRACELETS
The first featured bracelet comes from OurSilverLining and is called Linking the Yellow. I love the way it has a classic look to it. I could see wearing it with a classic black dress on a night out. It is currently on sale for just $25.00

The next selection is available from AlmostHeavenDesign. I was in heaven when I first saw this bracelet! Oh how I wish I had money in my PayPal account!! Picture yourself on a beautiful summer day walking through the surf on the beach wearing a simple white sundress with this bracelet as your only accessory.
Our 3rd bracelet is a cute Motherhood picture charm bracelet made by BurningMoon and an extremely reasonable price of $11.25. Remember, Christmas will be here sooner than we think and this would make a fabulous gift for any mom with a picture of her "favorite" child already in it.

Oohhh, my favorite color, green! Check out this Moss Agate & Silver bracelet that is a brand new creation from Deelights I almost squealed with "delight" when she listed it earlier this week! Hmmm, my birthday is tomorrow...who could I get to buy it for me?? LOL!!

Our last item isn't a bracelet, but I wanted to show it off. It is my new Glow in the Dark Skull & Crossbones Halloween Ornament. I'm disappointed that I can't get my camera to get a good picture of it glowing because it is totally cool! If you follow the link to the posting there is a picture of it glowing. The best part of that is, I could use the camera on my cell phone to get the glowing effect, but not my more expensive digital camera with multiple settings.

Hope everyone enjoys the last long weekend of the summer! :)
