You Had Me At Meow

It's been wayyyy too long since I've released any new patterns.  I was a complete slacker in 2017 and decided 2018 would be a much better year!

First up for this year is perfect for all the cat lovers out there.

I stitched my model using 3 shades of DMC floss for an ombre look on a piece of sky blue linen fabric that was in my stash. You can easily stitch the piece all in one color of floss, or do your own ombre color combination.  It's a very quick stitch that can be done in a weekend.

And can I saw how much I love the little mouse "pedestal" that my finisher used?!  Yes, I was and still am a huge Tom and Jerry fan.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Temperature Block Sampler

Whenever I see a craft I feel is really interesting, but don't know how to do that technique, I always try to think of a way to convert it to a cross stitched piece.   That's exactly what happened with my Temperature Block Sampler.

Last year on New Year's Eve I was trolling Facebook and found a post about crocheting a temperature blanket.  Because I had yet to teach myself how to crochet, I went into the cross stitch conversion mode.  I instantly left whatever NYE Countdown show I was watching and sat down at my computer with my notepad and started coming up with ideas.   There were a few I sketched and when charting them, they just didn't work for me.   After quite awhile I settled on a block sampler.  By that point in time it was too late into 2016 to release the design.

So, here we are just a few days before the start of 2017 and I'm releasing it in time for people to start a new "thread-a-day" piece.  I already have 3 local stitching friends that will be doing it with me.  I, of course, will be stitching using the suggested DMC colors.  Some of them will be changing colors to use overdyed fibers.

The photo below is strictly a representation of the layout of the chart, and was based on actual daily high temperatures in Las Vegas, NV for 2015.  The greater fluctuation in your local weather, the more colors you'll have in your design.  As you can tell from this photo, Vegas is pretty consistent in temperature for days on end.

Interested in getting this design for yourself?  If so, head on over to my Etsy shop before January 2, 2017 and save $3.00 off the PDF download price with coupon code TEMPBLOG at checkout.

I'd love to see lots of color variations of this design, so if you DO stitch the design, please feel free to share pics of your WIP and finished piece over on my Facebook page.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Editor's Note 03-06-17:  Below is a photo of the piece I'm creating, with stitching completed through January 26th:

In addition, if you'd like to see what other people's pieces look like, check out the album I've created on my Facebook page:

Little Hands, Tiny Feet - Baby Cross Stitch Pattern

Finally!  It's only taken me more than 3-1/2 years to get around to stitching the models for this design I originally released in January 2013.  The pattern contains both colorways, for the boy & girl versions.  It's a relatively quick stitch (especially if you leave of the "dotted" background) and would make a great gift for someone's new baby.

Of course the fantastic finishing was done by Rita at SnowBerry NeedleArts.  And I surprised an old co-worker of mine by sending her the boy version model for her miracle baby, Noah.

If you'd like to get this pattern, just click here for a list of places to purchase from.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Moose Silhouette Cross Stitch Pattern

Today I'll be sharing my Moose Silhouette.  This particular design was requested by Shelby, who follows my Facebook page, as something to stitch that would match her kitchen decor.   I stitched my model using DMC #315 on a 25 count Lugana fabric in "Mushroom" by Zweigert.

If you're interested in this design, you can purchase it at any of these places.

Irish Wolfhound Silhuette Cross Stitch Pattern

I've been remiss in posting here for quite awhile.  My only excuse is after spending all day on the computer at my full-time job, I have zero desire to be on the computer nights and weekends.  I pretty much turn on my laptop at home 2 or maybe 3 times a month anymore.  And since I've released a few new patterns in the past couple of months, I'm going to spread out the posts over several days so I'm not bogging down anyone's email that subscribes to notifications.

Today I'll be sharing my Irish Wolfhound Silhouette.  This particular design was requested by Anita from Stitches From the Heart in San Antonio, TX while I was at their stitching camp in March.  It was a joy to stitch.  I stitched my model using DMC #645 on a 28 count Lugana fabric in "Haven" by Picture This Plus.  I loved this fabric so much, I plan on buying more to use with future designs!

If you're interested in this design, you can purchase it at any of these places.

Patchwork Pin Cushions Cross Stitch Pattern #4

Oh my, I have no clue where my mind was at last weekend.  I released the pattern through all my online venues, and forgot to add it to my blog so everyone would know it's now available.  Sheesh!

This pattern contains January (a winter them) and February (a Valentine theme).

The patterns provide the information on the appropriate buttons.  And as an added bonus, the printed copies of the patterns include step-by-step finishing instructions.  Unfortunately there's no way for me to provide those same instructions with the instant download version available through Patterns Online.

If these designs are something that interest you, you can locate a retailer here.

My work life outside of Stitchnmomma has been extremely busy the pasts several months.  Please don't fear, I did NOT stop this series in the middle.  All 12 months will be done, I'm just running slightly behind.  Or as a fellow designer told me, I'm ahead of schedule for next year, LOL!

If you're stitching any of these lovely pieces, feel free to share pics of them on my Facebook page or even join our group that's also on Facebook, where ladies share their WIP and finished project pics.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Modern Dictionary: Home Cross Stitch Pattern

The latest in my Modern Dictionary series was done with a certain friend of mine in mind.  She's constantly saying she doesn't want to go out of the house on weekends because it would mean putting on pants.  And if you work full-time outside the house like both she and I do, I'm sure you can completely relate.  I could even do a second version and change "pants" to "a bra", because that is right up there on the list.

This piece was stitched on a 28 count Purple Dot evenweave by Fabric Flair. You can't see it in this photo, but the fabric has little silver sparkles in it.  I kept with my standard black floss, because using any other color just doesn't feel right to me.  Of course the finish was done by Rita over at SnowBerry NeedleArts.

Sometimes choosing the cover photo is the hardest part of the process.  I like one where you can clearly see the piece, but also the gorgeous finish.  This time around I ended up choosing the photo you see above.  However, I just had to share this additional photo of the gorgeous way it was finished...

I just love the overall look of the piece!  I think the large metal key compliments the theme perfectly.  And the little organza bows with buttons...awesome!

This pattern along with the other pieces in this series (which can be found here) is now available for purchase at your local needlework shop or various online retailers.  If you don't want to do a Google search, just click here for a current list of those places.  If you have the opportunity, please support your local needlework shops, as they're a dying breed and we need to keep them around!

If you're a retailer and would like to stock this design, or any of my others, you can purchase them here.

And if there's a particular word you'd like to see a fun definition given to, just let me know and I'll gladly add it to my list of designs to create & stitch.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching! :)

T-Rex Silhouette Cross Stitch Pattern

I have a new silhouette today, and it's not a dog!  Woohoo!

I've been racking my brain for quite awhile trying to figure out what I could stitch for my son's GF.  I used the Green Camo Alphabet model as a gift for Zach and the Pink Camo Alphabet model as a gift for his GF's daughter, but for the life of me couldn't think of what I could stitch that she'd like.  Then one day in early December when I was working on a more extensive list of silhouettes (nothing but dogs was getting boring), the light bulb went off.  And voila...we have a new silhouette in the family!

I stitched it using DMC #310 on a piece of 32 count Belfast linen in "Monster Mash" by Picture This Plus.  And because it was a gift, I went against my norm for silhouettes and sent it off to SnowBerry NeedleArts for a creative finish.  The GF received the pillow this week, so I can finally release the pattern without fear of her seeing it somewhere online.

This pattern along with all my other silhouettes (which can be found here) is now available for purchase at your local needlework shop or various online retailers.  If you don't want to do a Google search, just click here for a current list of those places.

If you're a retailer and would like to stock this design, or any of my others, you can purchase here.

And if there's a particular dog breed, or something else you're looking for in a silhouette, just let me know and I'll gladly add it to my list of designs to create & stitch.   I currently have a list of 21 more silhouettes I'll be designing & stitching...some are dogs and some are not.  Be sure to stay tuned for what will be releasing in the future.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Just Desserts: Grape Punch Cross Stitch Pattern

Back towards the end of 2015 when I did a survey of what you, my fans, wanted to see more of in 2016, there were two items that tied for first place...more Modern Dictionary designs and more quilt inspired designs.  Quilt inspired certainly isn't a problem with design ideas, but the time to create them is another story.  So, I decided to resurrect and old design with a new twist for the first quilt-inspired piece.

Several years ago I did a series of bookmarks that I called "Just Desserts".  It was a modern geometric design full of bright colors.  I took that and blended it with a log cabin quilt design for a fresh, new series, but with the old name of "Just Desserts".

The first one I did was "Grape Punch".  Purple is one of my two favorite colors, so of course I just love this one.  And because I wanted people to be able to see that the design can have variable projects, I stitched not one, but 3 different sized models for it.

As always, the fabulous finishing was done by SnowBerry NeedleArts.  I love the variety she gave me with a wall hanging, an ornament and a scissor fob!

Here's hoping you guys love this one as much as I do, because I have plenty more in the series planned!  :)

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

MetalFoot's Missives Subversive Style Cross Stitch Patterns

For several years my son Zach, aka "MetalFoot"(a nickname given to him by his Army Sgt. after an injury that resulted in metal holding his foot together), has asked me to create subversive and gamer inspired cross stitch pieces.  And for years I've told him no, because I need to enjoy what I'm stitching to do it.  Well, I've finally relented and am working with him to create a series of subversive style quotes that we're naming "MetalFoot's Missives".

As I most likely won't be stitching any of these pieces myself, I'm designing them so they are quick, easy pieces and I know they should stitch up just fine without me creating a model.  I'll be using the computer rendered photos only.

So to kick it off, here's Zach's first quote...

All of these pieces will be available as instant downloads and through printed hard copies.
This pattern along with future pieces in the series (which can be found here) is now available for purchase at your local needlework shop or various online retailers.  If you don't want to do a Google search, just click here for a current list of those places.  If you have the opportunity, please support your local needlework shops, as they're a dying breed and we need to keep them around!

Downton Abbey Quotes Cross Stitch Pattern Collection

Our beloved Downton Abbey television series may be coming to an end, but that doesn't mean our love for it has to stop!  :)

Several years ago I was commissioned by a gallery to do a series of Downton Abbey quotes.  At the time I was asked by several people for the charts to be released, but was unable to do so due to my agreement with the gallery.  Now that time has passed, I can finally release them.  Yay!

I've put 7 of the Dowager Countess's (Dame Maggie Smith) most famous zingers into easy to ready charts, all combined into one package.  This chart packaged will be available on a limited run and only through my blog here.  Once I've reached the number I have set for myself, this post will be removed and the designs will no longer be available.

Here's pictures of the 7 quotes you'll receive:

So, if you're in love with any or all of these quotes and feel the need to stitch them, here's what you need to do:
  • Send an email to stitchnmomma [at] hotmail [dot] com with DOWNTON ABBEY QUOTES in the subject line
  • Specify if you want to receive them as one PDF file (a $10.00 charge) or have them shipped to you in a printed format (a $17.50 charge) -- I ship within the U.S. only
  • If you want a printed format, please be sure to include your full name and shipping address in the email
I will then send you a PayPal invoice for the cost of your package.  Please allow up to 24 hours to receive the invoice, as I do work a full-time job outside my Stitchnmomma business.  Once your payment is received, your charts will be sent to you within 24 hours for PDF files and 48 hours for printed copies.

And since this will be a limited run, don't wait on getting yours...or sharing the news with your other Downton Abbey loving stitching friends .

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Fight Like A Girl - Breast Cancer Awareness Cross Stitch Pattern

After recently republishing my Autism Awareness Ribbon chart, I was asked to do something for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Here's my spin on it using not only DMC floss, but some Kreinik blending filament to give it that little bit of sparkle every girl needs in her life.

If you're interested in this design, you can find where to purchase it here

Modern Dictionary: Cat Cross Stitch Pattern

It's been about 9 months since I released the last Modern Dictionary design.  Honestly, I quit doing them because they just don't sell, which to me means people don't like them.  However, I did a poll on my Facebook page of what people wanted to see in 2016 and there was a tie for first place...more Modern Dictionary pieces and more quilt inspired designs.  So, here we are.

This piece was stitched on a 28 count aida hand-dyed "Blueberry" Jobelan.  I went back to my standard black floss, because using any other color just doesn't feel right to me.  Of course the finish was done by Rita over at SnowBerry NeedleArts.

Smiley Trio Cross Stitch Pattern

One of my goals for 2016 is to recreate and re-release designs that were done years ago on my old PatternMaker software.  The first one of I've done is the Smiley Trio.

This design was always one of my best sellers through my Etsy shop, whether it be the pattern, or the little magnets I stitched of the different smileys.  Each smiley is 2" x 2" when stitched on 14/28 count fabric.

If you're interested in this chart, simply click HERE for a list of retailers where it might be available.

Be sure to stay tuned throughout the year as more of my "old" designs come back to life.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Westie Silhouette Cross Stitch Pattern

Today's finish was another requested breed...the West Highland Terrier, or as most people call it, the Westie.  I stitched it using DMC #762 on a piece of 32 count Belfast linen in "Hocus Pocus" by Hand Dyed by Stephanie.

This pattern along with all my other silhouettes (which can be found here) is now available for purchase at your local needlework shop or various online retailers.  If you don't want to do a Google search, just click here for a current list of those places.

If you're a retailer and would like to stock this design, or any of my others, you can purchase here.

Patchwork Pin Cushions Cross Stitch Pattern #3

October and November have been very busy months.  I didn't accomplish as much stitching as I would have liked, but was able to get these beauties done for you.

This pattern contains November (a harvest them) and December (a holiday theme).

I'm trying hard to be more organized, and productive at the same time.  Starting this month, new designs will be released on the 1st and 15th of each month.  If I have multiple designs releasing I'll do one blog post here per day telling you about them, until I have them all covered.  2016 will be an exciting year with the remainder of the pincushions being released, along with more silhouettes (and no, not all dogs either), more of the Modern Dictionary series, a new quilt-inspired series and plenty of other random stuff thrown in just to keep it exciting!

And if you're stitching any of these lovely pieces, feel free to share pics of them on my Facebook page or even join our group that's also on Facebook, where ladies share their WIP and finished project pics.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Editor's Note:  Unfortunately the Patchwork Pincushions will no longer be available as an instant download through PatternsOnline.  Their site won't allow me to upload my file, and their IT Dept. is unable to figure out, which is extremely odd since I do use PCStitch, which is their own program.  I apologize for any inconvenience, however, the charts will still be available in print form from many other retailers.  Thank you.

Poodle Silhouette Cross Stitch Pattern

Today's finish was another requested breed...the Poodle.  I stitched it using DMC #310 on a piece of 32 count Belfast linen in "Crystal Chablis" by Picture This Plus.

When I was buying this fabric at my old LNS back in OH, Shelly the store owner, said she knew what the perfect design would be to stitch on it...a poodle.  She laughed when I told her that was exactly what I had in mind when I picked up the fabric.  Definitely love it and may just have to get some more.

Autism Awareness Ribbon Cross Stitch Pattern

Way back in 2010, about one year after I had opened my Etsy shop, I created an Autism Awareness Ribbon pattern by the request of a customer that had an autistic son.  Over the years it was a very popular pattern.  Unfortunately when I put my Etsy shop in vacation mode at the end of 2014 in preparation for my cross country move, that pattern was one of the few that was not available through any other venue.

Well, I'm happy to say that today I sat at my computer and recharted the design (it was done on my old PatternMaker software I no longer have) and once again have the pattern available for purchase.

As of this present time, it is only available via instant download through Patterns Online.   I hope to have it available through other venues in the future, I just don't know how quickly.  I'll be sure to update you if/when that changes.

Editor's Note:  As of January 5, 2016, this chart will be available through various online retailers as well as local needlework shops.  Just click the "Where to Buy" tab for a list of retailers.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Patchwork Pin Cushions Cross Stitch Pattern #2

Even though I like to think of myself as a stitching machine, it's sometimes important to have a life outside of my full-time job and stitching.  A 4-day trip back to OH to see the kids along with various other life events put me behind schedule.  They're a little later than I originally wanted, but I'm happy to say the second in the series of Patchwork Pin Cushions is finally available!!

This pattern contains September (a back-to-school them) and October (a Halloween theme).

Now to finish my next silhouette which only requires another 2-3 hours of stitching time (look for that in the next few days), get started on the next silhouette, chart and stitch my next Modern Dictionary piece (a requested word), do something that came to me the other day while at work, and then get cranking on the November/December pin cushions.  Oh, to only have more hours in the day!!

And if you're stitching any of these lovely pieces, feel free to share pics of them on my Facebook page or even join our group that's also on Facebook, where ladies share their WIP and finished project pics.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!

Pinwheel Halloween Quilt Cross Stitch Pattern

Last year I released my Pinwheel Christmas Quilt design...probably the only type of quilting I'll ever have the nerve to do.  I really enjoyed it, as well as the people that participated in the SAL I did with it.  I decided I would do other themes and make it a series.  I'm happy to announce I now have the 2nd theme available...the Pinwheel Halloween Quilt.

Since quite a few people used overdyed threads on the Christmas version, I decided to give an overdyed alternative for each of the solid pinwheels.  They also happen to be the same colors I'll be using.

If you're interested in purchasing this design, or any of my other quilt themed pieces, you can find a retailer here.

Until the next time...Happy Stitching!
