Every year there are two local needlework shows I go to. One in the Spring and one in the Fall.
This past week was the Spring show that is held at the Stow Munroe Falls Public Library. 2014 was the 40th year for it. On a whim I decided at the last minute to enter some of my recent finishes. I entered 3 pieces (Friends Welcome, Singles Awareness and the "Wine" model for Nerdy Words). All 3 piece received 2nd place ribbons. Woohoo!!!
I don't enter just for the sake of winning ribbons. Most of the time when I stitch a piece it isn't even with the intention of it being an entry in a show. I always try to do my best work on every project. I personally enter pieces just for the sheer joy of being able to share, what is hopefully something different, with other stitchers that may enjoy it/them.
Below are pics of my pieces at the show with the ribbons attached.
Tonight I was able to collect my pieces. I have to say I was slightly disappointed as it was one of the years the judges didn't include any negative feedback/critiques on my entry sheets. I actually look forward to reading their comments as it helps me improve my work and techniques. I did receive rave reviews on the fantastic finishing my Rita at SnowBerry NeedleArts.
The next show will have entries the end of September, so it looks like I had better get busy getting some more pieces stitched to enter there.
Until then...Happy Stitching!
Congratulations on your three second places! I love your Nerdy Words and may have to add them to my stash one day! Good luck for finding pieces for September - can't wait to see what you've chosen :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
DeleteWhatever I enter in the show the end of September will be whatever new pattern models I'm able to get finished up between now & then. And maybe even my Warholesque Family piece that I'll share an update pic on later this week.
Congratulations! Your work is beautiful, and now you have the ribbons to prove it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteI don't enter for the ribbons, but it sure is nice when you get one (or more!)
congratulations, love that you like the feedback and that you use it to develop - shows your professionalism.
ReplyDeleteThank you! And without construction criticism from others that may see things differently than ourselves, we can never improve, whether it is in our stitching or other aspects of life. One of the great lessons my parents taught me. :)
DeleteCongratulations! Love the Friends Welcome one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Faith! And "Friends Welcome" has been my biggest seller to date. Not only in my Etsy shop, but through my wholesaler too. :)
DeleteThis is fantastic! Congratulations!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Loretta! :)
